Updating device firmware

The installed firmware version for each device is shown in the device list and on the Device detail page.

New firmware updates are indicated by 'Update available', which is also visible on the dashboard. In DeviceHub, you can always update to the latest available version. Downgrading or selecting a specific earlier version is not possible.

The firmware installation may take several minutes and includes a device reboot. Do not interrupt the process. After the update, the device automatically reconnects to DeviceHub.

The device firmware can be updated in two ways:

  • By updating a single device.
  • By updating multiple devices at the same time across different device types.
To update the firmware for a single device:
  1. Navigate to the Dashboard, the Device overview page, or the device detail page.
  2. Click Update available.
  3. Review the release notes for the update and accept the license agreement by checking the box to continue.
  4. Click Update.
    During the update process, the firmware state changes to 'Updating'. After successful installation, the device displays the new firmware version.
To update the firmware for multiple devices:
  1. Navigate to the Device overview page.
  2. Click Firmware update.
  3. Select the devices you want to update.
    In this view, only connected devices that are eligible for a firmware update are shown in the device list.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Review the release notes for the updates and accept the license agreements by checking the box below to continue.
  6. Click Confirm to confirm the update process.
    During the update process, the firmware state changes to 'Updating'. After successful installation, the device displays the new firmware version.
The firmware of the device(s) has been updated successfully.
If the firmware update fails, a label 'Update failed' is shown. Click it to see more information about the issue and restart the update process. You also receive a toast message in the application when the firmware update succeeds or fails.
